The Patek Philippe Ref. 3970EP-021 stands as one of the most iconic and collectible perpetual calendar chronographs ever created. Introduced in the late 1980s as part of the lineage that began with the legendary 1518 and 2499, the 3970 represents the third generation of Patek Philippe’s perpetual calendar chronographs. Crafted in 950 platinum, its 36 mm case exudes understated sophistication, featuring delicately flared lugs and a polished bezel. The silver opaline dial displays a perfectly balanced layout: day and month apertures beneath 12 o’clock, a moon phase and date subdial at 6 o’clock, and chronograph registers at 3 and 9 o’clock. Powered by the manual-winding Caliber CH 27-70 Q, based on the Lemania 2310 and extensively reworked and finished by Patek Philippe, the movement is visible through a sapphire caseback (with solid platinum back also supplied).
