The Cartier Tank Carré Obus ref. W852 is one of the most unconventional and visually striking interpretations of the historic Tank design. Crafted in 18k yellow gold, its geometric square case is distinguished by the four characteristic rounded, bullet-shaped lugs that give the “Obus” model its name.

The defining feature of this particular execution is its extraordinary decorative front, where oversized Roman numerals in deep blue enamel are arranged around the central dial, creating a dramatic contrast against the polished yellow-gold surface. An additional blue enamel minute-track decoration frames the smaller central dial.

At the center sits an elegant ivory/cream dial, signed “CARTIER” at 12 o'clock and “PARIS” at 6 o'clock, complemented by traditional blued-steel sword-shaped hands. The winding crown is finished with Cartier's characteristic dark cabochon.

The watch is completed by a black leather strap, emphasizing the strong contrast between the yellow gold, vivid blue enamel and restrained central dial. With its unusual proportions and unmistakable Art Deco-inspired geometry, the W852 represents a particularly charismatic and collectible interpretation of the Cartier Tank.
