The Rolex Explorer II 16570 is a professional-grade tool watch introduced in 1989 and produced until 2011, embodying the spirit of exploration and precision engineering. Housed in a 40mm stainless steel Oyster case, it features a fixed 24-hour bezel and a bold additional GMT hand, allowing the wearer to track a second time zone—originally designed for spelunkers and polar explorers who often operate in low-light or no-light conditions.

The 16570 went through several movement upgrades during its production run, starting with the Caliber 3185 and later transitioning to the Caliber 3186. The watch offers a practical date function, robust automatic movement, and exceptional legibility thanks to its highly luminous markers and Mercedes-style hands. Available with either a white "Polar" dial or a black dial, the Explorer II 16570 has become a cult favorite for its rugged utility, understated aesthetics, and value in the pre-owned Rolex market.
