Description

The Rolex Cosmograph Daytona ref. 16520 represents a pivotal generation in the history of the Daytona, being the first automatic chronograph produced by Rolex. Introduced in 1988, it is powered by the celebrated Rolex Caliber 4030, extensively modified from the Zenith El Primero 400.

The highly collectible “Patrizzi Dial” designation refers to certain black-dial examples in which the outer rings surrounding the chronograph subdials have naturally oxidized and changed from their original black appearance to distinctive brown or tobacco-colored tones.

This aging phenomenon gives every Patrizzi dial an individual appearance and has become one of the best-known characteristics among collectors of Zenith-era Daytonas.

The watch features a 40 mm stainless-steel Oyster case, fixed steel tachymeter bezel, screw-down chronograph pushers and sapphire crystal. Its Oyster bracelet completes the classic sporting configuration of the reference.
