The Rolex Daytona 16520, often referred to as the "Zenith Daytona", represents a significant chapter in Rolex history. Introduced in 1988, this model was the first self-winding Daytona and remained in production until 2000. What makes it special is the Caliber 4030—a movement based on the famed Zenith El Primero, which Rolex modified extensively to meet its own performance and reliability standards.

The watch features a 40mm stainless steel case, an engraved tachymeter bezel, and a classic tri-compax layout with three sub-dials at 3, 6, and 9 o'clock. Its dial options include black or white, both with contrasting sub-dials that enhance legibility and appeal. The crystal is made of sapphire, offering excellent scratch resistance.

As a transitional model between vintage manual-wind Daytonas and the fully in-house models that followed, the 16520 combines vintage appeal with modern robustness. Its historical importance, limited production run, and use of the Zenith movement have made it highly collectible and desirable among enthusiasts and collectors.
