The Rolex Cosmograph Daytona ref. 16520 with white dial is one of the most iconic chronographs produced by Rolex. Introduced in 1988, it marked the beginning of the automatic Daytona era through the adoption of the Rolex caliber 4030, a heavily modified version of the legendary Zenith El Primero movement. The 40 mm stainless steel Oyster case represented a significant evolution over previous manually wound Daytonas, offering modern proportions, sapphire crystal protection, and enhanced everyday usability. The white dial configuration is particularly appreciated for its striking contrast with the black-rimmed chronograph registers, creating the classic “panda” aesthetic that has become highly sought after among collectors. Throughout its production run, the reference appeared in several dial generations, including early floating Cosmograph variants and later service dial executions.
