Description

The Rolex Datejust ref. 16018 is a luxurious precious-metal version of the classic Datejust 36, produced primarily during the late 1970s and 1980s. Crafted entirely from 18k yellow gold, the watch retains the timeless proportions and unmistakable design language that have defined the Datejust for decades.

Its 36 mm Oyster case is complemented by a traditional fluted 18k yellow gold bezel and an acrylic crystal fitted with Rolex's characteristic Cyclops magnifying lens over the date aperture at 3 o'clock. The reference was produced with a variety of factory dial configurations, including champagne, black, silver and more unusual executions, with baton or diamond-set hour markers depending on the individual watch.

At its heart is the automatic Rolex Caliber 3035, an important movement in Rolex history that introduced the quickset date function to this generation of Datejust. Operating at 28,800 vibrations per hour, it represented a significant technical evolution over the earlier caliber 1575.

Depending on its original configuration, the ref. 16018 can be found on an 18k yellow gold Jubilee bracelet or other period-correct Rolex bracelet and strap configurations.
